Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center

The Carnivore Center and Wood Design Center is the entrance to Orsa Bear Park. There is a permanent exhibition on Carnivores and temporary exhibitions with wood/design, carnivore and nature themes. The Carnivore Center’s beautiful architecture and décor gets its inspiration from the beauty of nature.

The magnificent building also includes large, modern conference facilities, an art gallery, café and a well stocked gift and souvenir shop.

The Carnivore Center spreads knowledge and information through different channels. One important channel is by offering lectures and theme days for school classes.

Jubilee Exhibition at Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center

The Bear Park is celebrating 25 years during 2011. Mr Anders Björklund, one of the founders of the park has taken photographs and written a jubilee book about the Bear Park. Fantastic photographs taken of the large enclosures with animals are on display. The exhibition runs June 1 to October 2, 2011.
 

Exhibition of the Nordic wood characters at Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center

A miniature exhibition about our Nordic wood characters. A number of companies are taking part in the exhibition. For the first time we exhibit the pre-historic log which was found during construction of the Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center. It is dated to be approximately 2000 years old.

Library Corner at Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center

Newly opened library corner inside the permanent exhibition. Here you can find books about carnivores and nature, a comfortable cosy reading corner to relax and look out the panoramic window facing the wolves.

Wood Carvings at Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center

The center is displaying a collection of wood carvings from the Axenfjord collection which is the largest collection of wood carvings in Europe. Fantastic sculptures which has been carved out in cottages around Sweden. You will see carvings from originating from all over Sweden and some from Dalarna. Exhibition dates: June 1 – August 1.

Taxidermist, the Artist. An exhibition at Carnivore Center/Wood Design Center

Taxidermists are great artists and have great knowledge of the animal kingdom. A miniature exhibition displaying master montage of Swedish animals mounted by taxidermists Jeanett Setterberg and Roland Börjesson. Look closely at birds, fish and other animals.
